Mad Hatter Heart

Wow, where did January go to? I can't believe we're already into the second month of the year. And February is that classic month of love - so was apt we use Red as our colour theme for this month's More Mixed Media Challenge!

For my DT make, I chose a heart shaped project. Using a cardboard heart, homemade Gesso (PVA, talcum powder and white paint, easy), red acrylic paint, then I tore some pretty papers I had in my scrap bag that would tie in with the colour theme, and add some texture. I adore Alice in Wonderland and wanted to use my Indigoblu stamp set Alice II - the Mad Hatter stamp stood out for me as a good choice for the project. I found some old fortune telling cards I'd stashed away and forgotten about. It added a quirky layer, and a good base to stamp the Mad Hatter onto. Some foam hearts I dyed with Distress Inks, as well as stamped wording in black and copper here and there. I used a die cut frame around one of the words, and a little key affixed with a cute red heart brad finished the piece.

I hope you enjoy my project, and be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's inspirational pieces at More Mixed Media Challenge. The new challenge for February starts on February 5th.

  1. I can see why you chose that mad hatter stamp because it is awesome sauce and a bag of chips! What lovely layers you have created and those hearts are spectacular! ~Niki
